From chaos to connection

"I wouldn't trade my start in the Netherlands for the world."

Unexpected relocation

My move to the Netherlands came suddenly and unexpectedly, which would normally cause quite a bit of chaos. However, having a team to support you through such a monumental step is priceless. The stress factors are immediately tempered by the knowledge that you are being assisted by a competent and caring team.

From South Africa to the Netherlands

I arrived in the Netherlands with my husband in May 2024, without any idea of what to expect. Our first time shopping at Albert Heijn was quite an experience, as we had to figure out how the self-checkout works. Also, learning to cycle and using hand gestures to indicate direction came much easier to my husband than to me. We learned early on that Dutch directness is very real, but that it isn’t as intimidating as people often claim.

A warm Seeker welcome

Looking back, I have nothing but good memories of my first few months in the Netherlands. The team welcomed me with open arms; they embraced my culture while teaching me about theirs, and they never stopped trying to make my landing here as smooth as possible. No question was too crazy — and if a question was indeed a bit strange, we could have a good laugh about it together!
